What are your responsibilities at VACE?
We, VACE Digital Solutions, are service providers in the IT industry. This means that we take care of our customers' IT holistically, from client support to servers and the cloud, and offer consulting services in the areas of IT strategy, IT security, digitization and all related topics.
As Head of the IT Department, I am responsible for ensuring that my colleagues can work as smoothly as possible. I make sure that they can do their job in the best possible way.
On the other hand, as Head of IT for the VACE Group, I am responsible for ensuring that our own network, as well as the networks of our customers, are always evolving technically and remain at a secure level. This means I look at new technologies and evaluate whether they suit us or our customers and then implement these technologies accordingly.
As a consultant, I support medium-sized companies in bringing their IT to the most secure state possible and in advancing the IT and IT security strategy in their company. In doing so, I select the technical and organizational measures with which our customers can achieve the optimum with little effort.
What do you value most about your work?
On one hand, I get to lead a team of technically competent people, which I enjoy every day. And fun is rarely neglected here. On the other hand, I deal with innovative new technologies on a daily basis, which means I keep on expanding my knowledge.
No day is like the other and every day I am confronted with new challenges and exciting topics. In short, it never gets boring!
How do you rate your work-life balance?
On some days, important things for our customers have to be done at unusual times, for example: urgent server maintenance or incidents that can only be resolved outside our business hours and those of our customers. Server and network changeover projects can also very often only be carried out in the evening or on weekends.
Thanks to our flexitime and home-office model, I can dynamically adjust my working hours as required and, if it should be quieter, I can also finish work earlier. This means that "work" and "life" are always in balance.
